GOOGLE AD SIZES

Sometimes, creating a fair share of ads to run through Google’s AdSense or AdWords programs can be a daunting task as there could be some confusion in respect to how the image ads appear when dished out onto the active sites. Though, some graphic designers might think that they could get the right dimensions for which to design their image ads by just carrying out a simple search on Google’s AdSense or AdWords FAQs –frequently asked questions, but there are more to it. This piece of article breaks down Google ad sizes to help prosperous graphic designers in their quest to designing image ads.

Basically, there only two distinctive sets of Google ad sizes, and here is the analysis;

First, if it is Google ad sizes you are looking for, you are most probably to find the following dimensions;

Small Square – Two hundred by Two hundred (200 × 200);

Square – Two hundred and fifty by Two hundred and fifty (250 × 250);

Medium Rectangle – Three hundred by Two hundred and fifty (300 × 250);

Large rectangle – Three hundred and thirty six by Two hundred and eighty (336 × 280);

These aforementioned Google ad sizes are the right dimensions to deploy if you are to design an animated image ad, say a Flash or GIF file.

On the other hand, if it is static image ads you are to design, I mean those one of image files with no animation, then you might want to deploy these smaller dimensions;

Small Square – Two hundred by One hundred and eighty nine (200 × 189);

Square – Two hundred and fifty by Two hundred and thirty nine (250 × 239);

Medium Rectangle – Three hundred by Two hundred and thirty nine (300 × 239);

Large rectangle – Three hundred and thirty six by Two hundred and sixty nine (336 × 269);

Skyscraper- One hundred and twenty by Five hundred and seventy eight (120 × 578);

Wide Skyscraper – One hundred and sixty by Five hundred and seventy eight (160 × 578);

Leaderboard – Seven hundred and twenty eight by Seventy nine (728 × 79);

Banner – Four hundred and sixty eight by Forty nine (468 × 49)

Important Fact to Know

If you deploy those larger dimensions to design static images, chances are that Google shrinks them vertically by eleven or twenty two pixels to conciliate space for its ads bar that sticks at the base. This may eventually result in some ugly ads though. However, if you make use of the smaller dimensions, your images won’t be resized by Google.
